Meet our Board of Directors
“Support means we will walk with each other.
We will not try to change you or how you feel.
Anger, depression and other feelings are real.
We will simply be here beside you.”
President / Director
Sharlene Bosma is the founder and Board Chair of Tim’s Tribute. Tim’s Tribute was founded by Sharlene after her husband Tim was murdered on May 6, 2013. Sharlene, realizing the need for support for victim’s families, was compelled to set up this organization. Prior to May 2013, Sharlene was a regular mom and wife, working full time in an administrative position. Together, Tim and Sharlene were building their future and creating their own history of stories to tell their children. Now, Sharlene is working to help other survivors like herself, and bring a voice to victims, all in memory of Tim.
Treasurer / Director
Michelle is one of Tim Bosma’s three sisters. As a mother of four children, Michelle understands how homicide can impact the lives of children. She also handles the bookkeeping and annual golf tournament for Tim’s Tribute.
Rosy wanted to get involved with Tim’s Tribute & The Healing Tree to help other families of homicide.
It has been a long journey for Rosy and her family, which still continues while awaiting an arrest in her brother’s murder. The journey never really ends; therefore, it is crucial for the families left behind to find peace and strength in the support of others who have experienced the same evil.
Julie Cowell has 3 beautiful children and a husband whom she loves dearly. She is a school teacher in the Hamilton-Wentworth region and has been for 15 years. Julie has a passion for teaching and helping children and now she has a passion for helping families of victim’s of homicide. In 2013, her beautiful sister-in-law was murdered by her boyfriend and left behind was their 5-month-old baby boy. Since this date, her life and outlook on life has changed dramatically. Her family adopted their nephew and are now raising him as their own. Julie’s perspective on life changed from constantly “sweating the small stuff” to living in the moment and seeking fulfillment by helping others. She wants something positive to come out of something so horrific. Julie Cowell chooses to pay it forward – to help and support others as her family was so greatly helped.
Tim’s Tribute is an independant charitable organization incorporated under the Not for Profit Corporations Act of Canada.
